This magnificent estate of 90 hectares in Cantenac is a 2nd Cru Classé of Margaux. The owner is the Lurton family. The vineyard totals 75 hectares and consists of Cabernet-Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet-Franc (4,5%) and Carmenère (0,5%), cultivated on nice hillocks of gravel and sand mixed with clay. Since about ten years ago, Brane-Cantenac has become particularly elegant, smooth-textured yet structured, with an aging potential of at least 30 years. It is a safe bet in the Margaux appellation. The winery also produces an easy, fruity Second wine without any Cabernet-Franc, called Baron de Brane.
